Creating playbooks
Build a reusable campaign blueprint that workspaces can opt into with one click.
For Hub admins. Playbooks are templates. Edits affect future opt-ins; deployed campaigns stay unchanged.
Before you start
- Workspaces have connected their Meta ad accounts
- Ad Configuration is set up (audience types, defaults, lead forms)
- You have creative ready if providing Hub-level media
The four-step wizard
| Step | What you set |
|---|---|
| 1. Setup | Name, access, launch mode, budget, schedule, creative source, questions |
| 2. Campaigns | Objectives, campaign structure, budget allocation |
| 3. Ad sets & creative | Audience type, ad creative, ad copy |
| 4. Review & create | Confirm, publish |
Step 1: Setup
Basics
- Name — what workspaces see in the shop. Use searchable phrasing:
Grand Opening - Local Awareness, notQ3 v2. - Description — 1–2 sentences on goal and when to use it.
Launch mode
| Mode | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Opt-In | Workspaces choose to participate |
| Deploy Immediately | Auto-launches across all eligible workspaces |
Type
| Type | Use for |
|---|---|
| One-Time | Seasonal promos, launches, events |
| Evergreen | Ongoing offers that workspaces can re-run repeatedly |
Budget
| Option | When |
|---|---|
| Fixed | All workspaces spend the same amount |
| Recommended | Workspaces can adjust within Hub-set min/max |
Set Lifetime (with end date) or Daily (ongoing).
Schedule
| Option | When |
|---|---|
| Fixed dates | Time-bound promotion |
| Workspace-defined | Evergreen or flexible-start campaigns |
Start must be ≥24 hours after opt-in. Lifetime budgets require an end date.
Creative source
| Source | Workflow | Hub review? |
|---|---|---|
| Playbook-Level | Hub uploads media; workspaces use as-is | No |
| Workspace-Level | Workspaces upload during opt-in | Yes (you approve before deploy) |
| Boosted Posts | Workspaces pick an organic post to boost | No |
Questions (optional)
Ask workspaces for context that shapes their campaign. Short answer, multi-select, or single-select. Mark required ones with the asterisk toggle.
Step 2: Campaigns
Pick the objective (Awareness, Traffic, Leads, Sales, Engagement) and structure the campaigns/ad sets the playbook will create.
Budget allocation
| Strategy | How it works | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| CBO (recommended) | Meta distributes budget across ad sets | Most campaigns |
| Equal | Even split | Simple, balanced |
| Percentage | You define the split | Different campaign priorities |
Step 3: Ad sets & creative
Pick the audience type for each ad set — it pulls each workspace's specific config (radius, custom audiences, CTA) at deploy time. Add creative (images, video, primary text, headline). Use copy variations for dynamic ad rotation.
For lead campaigns, see Lead capture playbooks.
Step 4: Review & publish
Confirm the structure (number of campaigns, ad sets, ads), preview ads with sample workspace data, and Publish. The playbook goes live in the shop immediately.
After publishing
- Workspaces see the playbook in Playbooks → Shop
- Monitor opt-ins and approve workspace creative in Managing playbooks
- Edit anytime — changes apply to future opt-ins only
Tips
- Name for searchability — Workspaces filter by keyword.
Holiday Lead Generation - 2 Week Trialis much better thanQ4 LeadGen. - Set realistic recommended budgets — Based on what's actually worked in your network.
- Use Workspace-Level creative for local authenticity — Hub's polished assets often outperform locally-shot photos, but local photos perform best in some categories. Test both.
- Add a description that explains who should opt in — saves your inbox from "is this for me?" questions.
